I do this all the time, and mainly on things that I can use to create.
If it was just spending for the heck of it! no way.

I try to make money from what I make, so it's a little investment :)
At the moment I am making lovely bird houses on stands.
(something like in the picture).

I would save it unless the 'really nice' thing was something I really needed.

If there was something that I particularly wanted at the moment, then I would buy it, but I would not just buy something nice for the sake of it. I put most of my money away and save up.

If it is pocket money, it is okay to spend it. All my money goes into savings and a little comes out for pocket money. If I spend it I can go for a while without money on hand because I know I have saving if an emergency arises.
