I used to always eat the white ones - in fact I don't know if they yellow ones were always available?
Then one day, i bought a yellow by mistake, and have always eaten yellow since then.
They seem to be sweeter than the white ones however am cutting down this year on stone fruit due to the many poisonous chemicals they have to put on stone fruit to stop disease and fruit fly.
Also unless I buy at the most expensive shop, I am often disappointed in the quality of peaches.
With peaches,I like both equally, however with NECTARINES, I only ever eat WHITE ones now and have done so for years. The aromatic experience when eating white nectarines is just amazing and makes them so much lovelier than the yellow ones which were the only ones available when I was growing up! When I was little and growing up in the southern states of Australia, we had a glorious peach tree in the yard and the fruit were white fleshed. They were always so sweet and juicy, I never understood how the peaches in tins were so deeply coloured!!! This was when my parents taught me that there were various types of peaches available!! How lucky we are to have such wonderful fruit here in Oz!
Both are equally delicious - however, I'm prone to navigating towards white peaches. I don't find them as sweet as the yellow ones and they taste fresher and have a very slight tang (or perhaps my white peaches aren't ripe)?! White peaches and mint in champagne is delicious.
I love the yellow ones, & 1 week ago I was given the biggest yellow peach I'd ever seen. It's still in the fridge. We'll eat it on Australia Day! Looking forward to eating 1/2 of that! I'm now going to buy a white 1 when I go shopping tomorrow to try it out!
