Voluntourism is a form of tourism in which travellers participate in voluntary work, usually for a charity.
This often involves teaching, medical missions and doing construction in poor countries.

I have been doing it for the last 14 years.
I love it.

I will continue for as long as I possibly can...
I can't go overseas now, but I do it where I live.
I already volunteer 3 days a week for a charity so while I would do this, I do not have the time to do further volunteering (nor the inclination).

However I would not go overseas and volunteer, but would only do it here in Australia.

Yep, me too. When my part of the world is doing OK, then I might consider going overseas to help.

If I had skills that an overseas charity was looking for I might (later, once my children are grown) but I wouldn't want to be a burden on a charity who would have to waste time training me up if they need people with particular skills. I have read that sometimes that kind of thing can do more harm than good unfortunately.
Yes I have participated in the past
YES, and I have for 10 years.
Volunteering is a great way to gain experience within any industry.
I began volunteering with various organisations who are involved in Events, as a way to get into concerts for free :) worked very well.
Volunteering began my career in Events, and now I get PAID to see concerts!
I think it's a great idea. I have friends who go to Kenya every summer to teach and help with other vital activities. Another friend is getting ready to fly to Uganda, for similar purposes. Much better way to spend your holiday and justify all those air miles than just lazing around in a luxury hotel and never engaging with the people and country you are visiting.
I'm proud to be a volunteer! I know that in Australia, volunteers are a valuable part of the overall economy. Their work is often ignored and downgraded, but volunteers are always there to do what has to be done.
If I were financial stable enough to take a volunteer vacation, I would love to. Honestly, right about now, I could do for any kind for vacation lol.
No not interested at all.
Unfortunately, the areas' in the world where this is needed, are governmentally unstable or under military dictatorships', so I'll give it a wide berth, thanks!
