I never have before, but I would consider it if I were ever going to go back into education. It allows you to study in your own time, and avoids travel. The Open University sounds very good, but it obviously doesn't compare meeting a tutor face to face though. If you are getting your first degree then I think it is best to study on site, but as for a mature student who might also be working, they are very handy.
Have studied online, and it is quite rewarding. It is great if you're motivated and can kick procrastination.
Probably not. Having little kids, I think they would prove too much of a distraction for me and I'd never get through it. Having the motivation of a face-to-face course and an instructor who is expecting my work would be much more realistic for me.
I would consider it
I'm currently doing a Cryptography course online (for free!) and it's great! You have to find a balance between doing it at your own pace and getting the job done by a certain date, but it feels a lot more rewarding! There's time to process the information and be more meticulous in your work.
No and yes.
It depends what I am studying?

I have done a great deal of study in the last 18 years.
I do prefer to be in the class room, and all my studies could not have been done any other way.
In fact...they also needed 'field work'.I think at home has many merits. For people who just can not get to the school or organisation.
In some studies:
You have no choice, for me I did 'Ministry', so it was not an option, you had to be in class and also interact with others.
'Think-Tanks' were also part of our studies, and we could not have done half our work, without our peers.
No and yes.

I will be starting a course online soon. I've done subjects online before, but never a whole degree, so I'm not sure how I will go. I'm only doing online because the only university that offers the course is too far away for me to attend in person.
I want to re-think my position on the authenticity of online universities. I have been skeptical in the past, but these are becoming more mainstream and quite convenient for the student. I still wonder how the online degrees are valued in the job market.
Absolutely. I have been studying my blogging and "How To" online.
Beats going to a campus which adds hours to the day I don't have.
I think that's the way we're heading. With the reduction in regulation in Australia, more people (particularly those less well-off) will need to study online.
I probably would study a foreign language.
I completed my RSA online a few years ago and as I could do it at my own pace it took me 40 minutes instead of them estimated 4-5 hours. I find it much more rewarding as I don't need much support when it comes to studies for the most part I can figure things out for myself.
I am looking at studying a digital media and web design certificate eternally through Tafe next semester as I wouldn't cope too well attending a campus.
I'm studying online from an interstate uni, as it's one of the few that offers my course in librarianship.
There are issues at times, like lack of communication from some lecturers, hampered by the distance element but mostly it's ok.
A group of students have formed a supportive Facebook group where we post questions about assignments, etc, and ask for help.
WOW.

Who wouldn't?

More convenient, no attendance required, often no exams to attend, easy access if you have the internet and a good computer.

I suppose there are people on this planet without the required computer skills.

Some of my online studies have already included;
Diploma of Social Media Management with Shaw Academy,
Crystal Therapy, Dream interpretation and energy healing with Universal Class,
Childhood education, writing for the web and sociology with open 2 study,
Completion of a couple of units of a bachelor of arts (Professional Writing and Publishing) with open universities Australia
Completion of an online American Degree in Metaphysics, commencement of Master of Metaphysics and the intention to complete a Doctorate of Metaphysics with the University of Metaphysics.
I will continue to study online for many years to come!
Studying online is fun.I have done online courses. They were great.
