Yes, I definitely would!
My son used to fix everything for me but since he died I have had to work it all out for myself and often help friends.
However, I am not brilliant at it as my computer repair firm, often log in to my computer from their office and fix things I cannot.
This is a great idea - REMOTE access, as I sit and watch the mouse move and the way he fixes things is incredible - it actually makes me look NOT computer literate!!
YouTube is quite good for diy fixes.
Finy, You've had a mention from me in my reply to this question!
Absolutely.
Info Technology was my chosen profession for many years.
Information Technology is my field so I am very literate . I may do some graduate studies soon but not sure what the specialization will be.
Not really. I can write emails and do word documents, but that's about it. That's about all I need to use the computer for. Oh, and play Solitaire. If I need help with anything I can ask hubby or children.
I would. I can't programme (see no reason to learn) but I have been using them since the old DOS days and I have had many computers over the years. I can do the things I need to do. My s-i-l is a tech so he upgrades me to the latest as we go along.
Definitely. I don't like to waste time waiting for drop down menus to give their options so I created my own shortcuts on my screen to save time. My daughter is more so as she can build computers and is forever being asked by her neighbours to sort their problems out. Sometimes it isn't practical to have the knowledge as they expect her to drop everything and do the fixes but she does it when she can squeeze some time to help them out.
No, I can do the things which I need to, and I am happy with that! I have had to basically teach myself what I do know, and as a reasonably quick learner, have managed to learn many little things which make my computer time more enjoyable!! I can happily go away from my laptop and do many other enjoyable things, whereas many people I know LIVE on their computers!!! As long as I am able to do the basics, such as emails, paying of bills online, and the like, then I am as happy as a kid in a toy shop!!!
I am hopeless. I don't know how to download or put pictures on the screen. If I fill in a competition entry online then I get hundreds of people ringing me asking me to donate, go on cruises and change my electricity. I have no idea how they get my number and why they harass me. No more competitions for me.
No. But I wouldn't call myself 'computer illiterate either, LOL.
I can do, what I nearly need to do! I also can't download photos. I was shown how to put photos from my camera onto my computer in the Apple shop, but by the time I got home, I had forgotten! I am on Facebook, but I don't go on Facebook. I used to play Solitaire, but luckily it disappeared from my computer. I'd like to get Scrabble back on, so I can play by self, although I shouldn't because I really don't have time, when I'm supposed to be helping my husband getting rid of stuff in the house. I don't know how Finy has more hours in her day, than I do, with her Volunteering, recipes on AA, taking her dog for walks, & thinking up all the questions, like this 1, plus putting in the photos to go with the questions! Ahhh!
