Which fashion fads of the past do you love to hate?

We've pretty much seen it all when it comes to fashion trends. From corsets to chinos, platform shoes to padded shoulder pads, dungarees to Doc Martins and everything in-between.

The never ending cycle of fashion brings new garments every season, which very soon become a fad, retired to the fashion vault but never forgotten.

What would you say is a fashion fad you've found the most ridiculous, most unflattering or one that you've hated the most in the past?

I do not understand the midriff tops. Not because I think girls should be protecting their modesty or whatever. *scoff*. I just think they look completely ridiculous most of the time. Still blows my mind that they've come back as they have.
Oh yes, that is definitely one fashion fad I hate too, bearing a midriff is not cool!

Shoulder pads, especially the ginormous power dressing ones from the 80's! They seem to make a come back every few years but I don't get the trend. Why do you want your shoulders to look like skyscrapers. I've had a few jackets with them in and I've cut them out. Maybe I just don't pull off the look, but its an odd look to try to resurrect.
It wasn't really a 'fashion' thing, but we had shoulder pads in our school blazers. I cut mine out. :)
Yes, shoulder pads, never understood that! I always remove them from clothing items too

Fluoro! It's back (again) baby!

I never liked bell bottoms or 'flare' plants, hope they don't come back!!!

Shoulder pads, tight jeans and midriff tops.
Fishnet stockings.
I hope we never again see the dreaded "boob tube" of the eighties. Seems like the eighties have turned up some real fashion challenges!
Oh yes, I agree on the boob tube! Yuck!

Shoulder pads, acid wash jeans, midriff tops, hooker heels....

It's a current fad that gets me active wear as normal wear. If your off to the gym great other wise we don't need to see your private parts same goes for wearing tights without covering up no class at all.
The huge bell-bottom flares of the 70's - thank goodness I missed that! Hipster pants - I REALLY don't want to see 2 inches of your bum crack and your muffin-top blubber hanging over the top. And the super shoulder pads of the 80's - looking like a lady-wrestler is not the look I'm going for!
Wearing stiletto heels with short shorts. Makes the wearer look like a cheap hooker.
