My husband and I are planning a trip to Sydney. This will be our first visit and we are totally looking forward to it. I would like some suggestions for places to see near the city, so that we don't miss out some good places.

I really enjoyed Hyde Park. It's so huge and lots to see there. Really pretty too.
The Botanical Gardens, Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge are obvious ones -The Rocks area, tour of the harbour, Bondi Beach.

Many many others depending on how much time you have -the area around The Gap in the Bondi region is interesting and Taronga Zoo is a must though this takes all day -also the Manly Ferry is a nice trip and many others!

I love the gardens in Sydney on lovely sunny days.
I have never been to Sydney. But its there in my wishlist.
Look up on Google, you may find some places that have a wider scale, after all you need to find out as much as you can.
Just type in ''Places to see in Sydney''....there is a lot of great info :)
All the places Finy said. We were lucky enough once returning from Manly on the ferry and got to see the two Queen Mary's in the harbour complete with horns and fireworks - it was awesome! I would recommend the trip to the Blue Mountains by coach, get picked up at the hotel, returning via Leura (check out the chocolate shop Josophan's Fine chocolates), and hop on a boat back to Sydney. An all day trip but you get to see so much. I love Sydney there's so much to see.
Sydney is full of things to see and do. The Hyde Park Barracks is a very good venue to look over. So many things listed above already. Melbourne is where I live and I love it but for visitors to Melbourne from Sydney there is not a lot to show them maybe fairy penguins and Dandenongs. Not a lot in Melb. to compare to Sydney as far as day trips etc.
