When fishing are you able to take the fish off the hook?

Definitely not - it is like, killing an animal - yes, I know, so IS fishing.
I remember clearly when we moved to acreage and our back yard was a river and we had our own jetty.
The first day I was there I went fishing - I LOVE FISHING - and in those days there was heaps of fish in the Murray River and I immediately caught one, brought it in and screamed as didnt know what to do, so I phoned my partner who was in the house to come down to the jetty and take it off.
Needless to say, eventually he told me if I cannot take the fish off the hook, do not fish!
I still couldnt do it -sort of scared me if they wriggled....hate it.

I cannot fish any more for that very reason. I have only ever fished three or four times and I hate it. I also don't like to eat fish so it's a win/win situation for the poor little fishies.

But I am really bad at the whole 'catching' part. I can bait but I am the same as you Finy - I am not a fan of the wriggling lol.. This is why I always fish with others.

That was always something I think us girls just hated!
I could never do it, but time has passed and well if we were hungry...needed to eat a fish, I would do it.

When hubby and me go trout fishing, he not only baits my hook, but, removes the fish from the hook. I just can't do it.

Love fishing. Haven't been for ages but used to take myself out in the tinny & fish by myself, had my own rods & fishing creel, did it all. Have gone fishing alone from the jetty & caught lots of tommies, but on most jetty's there is usually others around. A solitary, almost meditation-like. Good, quiet time for thinking.

Fishing has never been in my field of interests at all!! It is the whole idea of killing the poor things which bothers me.What a hideous way to die....the opposite of drowning!!!! Funnily enough, I do enjoy eating fish....far more than read meat and chicken, actually!

No, I haven't been successful in trying to take the fish off the hook in the past, I know I would end up with it in my finger, they are quite sharp.

I used to fish all the time, I can get the fish off the hook but my problem is killing it afterwards.
I fished at a trout farm once and they gave me a rolling pin type thing to "stun" them with after I caught them but I couldn't bring myself to do that either
