Actually two days ago!
Paying for a holiday for 5 of us! Don't think I have ever written such a big cheque before but they were going to charge me to put on my credit card, so decided it would cost about $300 to put it on my credit card, so I got out the old cheque books instead!
Holy moly, Finy, that's a good one . . . . . I have no idea so i am going to look in my filing cabinet . . . . . . . .. . . . .. good grief; it was May 2010 . . !!
oh gosh - i have written several - this one was for $10,000! Cant even remember writing such a big one before!
That's not bad for all of you really though . . . if you divide it back. Quite a reasonably priced holiday I would have thought. I hope it's going to be fun for you all :-)))
I wouldn't have written one since before I was married, since my husband manages all the finances in our household. I just asked him when he last wrote a cheque, and he said probably about 2 years ago, to pay for a short holiday. As Treasurer for the local Scouts Group, he pays by cheque, when needed, for their various activities.
I have never owned a cheque book. When I was a child paying for something for school, I might have been allowed to use Mum and Dad's cheque book for something. Once or twice I've needed to use a bank cheque for a big purchase (like a house deposit).
Never before? I don't own a cheque book.
I have never written a cheque
Hmmm, I have only written a cheque in practice at Tafe many many years ago (yes, it was a requirement to practice writing cheques).
I have processed paperwork at work to have someone else write a cheque, but I've never actually written a real one.
I can't remember, sometime ago. When we were first married, it was my job to get all the household bills and pay them by the end of the month, so I would get out the cheque book, write out the cheques and go into Brisbane city and personally pay them. I loved it.d
Even when I got myself a part-time job I still did it.
Now, most of the bills are paid through the bank or with a card. Easier, but not as much fun.
Even when we had two small children I still did it that way as it was a nice day out to go into the city. That was fifty three years,
Now I very rarely go into Brisbane Centrally, to the Specialists, Functions, or one off events.
About half.a dozen times a year now., as we have a lot of great shopping centres in the suburbs. How times change!,
I can't remember when I last wrote out a cheque, but my husband has to sometimes, when our investment firm wants us to buy more shares. (He pays for our cruises & flights online with a debit card.)
My husband had to write a cheque last week for our granddaughters term of swimming lessons. We had our cheque books somewhere, but he couldn't find them, so he had to get a bank cheque, which of cause, was dearer! (He has now found them so we'll need them again, for the next term of swimming lessons.)
In high school I had to do a business unit and we were taught how to write a cheque, but I have never written an actual cheque in my life as never owned a cheque book!
