When are kids old enough to go to the movies alone?

If I was close by, like shopping as they went to see a movie alone...then Maybe at age 13.

I have done this.....but! given my son info, who they can sit near or not.
That they were not to also strike up conversations, with others there.

That they were not to leave the complex, until I arrived back to pick them up.
They must not leave with anyone else.

I have recently let junior go to the movies with a friend by himself. He is 12 years old. I wouldn't have let him go any younger.

When they are old enough to buy the tickets themselves. Honestly, since children don't actually go to the cinemas alone but often with some friends, I think it's not that much of a big deal.

It depends on how you feel. From 10 years of age plus. Great if they go with their friends, personal preference maybe.

When they learn how to respect the cinema and its patrons. If a child still hasn't learnt not to put their feet up on the chairs or not to throw popcorn and make a general nuisance of an experience for others then they are not mature enough to go on their own.

Interesting, we all were thinking about the safety of the child, not the enjoyment of the other movie goers. Good point.

12. I would drop off and pick up so there's not too much roaming around the shopping centre annoying people.

I agree with most. 12 is a good age but they get dropped off and picked up and turn off their mobile phones in the theater.
