The Reef Thai Restaurant in Townsville, for my birthday a few years ago.I rarely eat out these days as I have a very small appetite and feel I do not get good value for money unless I can take a 'Doggie Bag' of leftovers home! This particular venue has spectacular food and impeccable service, and it never, ever disappoints!
How lovely, I am jealous. Only have one son and at present we are estranged...never ever dreamt this would occur, tis very hard for a mother......
I would be horrified if my son and I were estranged. He lives so far away and so we keep in touch by phone only. It's weird as I grew up in Melbourne and came to North Qld in my 20's,and he grew up HERE and went down there in HIS 20's!!
I do hope that both of you can build a strong bridge back to each other, Fran. I am in a similar situation with my sister, who I have not spoken with since early 1998. It breaks my heart, but hopefully one day,our own bridge will be re-built.
Wow!!!! All that from a reply about a restaurant!!!
Sorry to hear such stories. I just had several Asian food meals out with my son,.. As a present for his 18th birthday I took him to Thailand! I know we were lucky! We get along very well and I love travelling with him. On the other hand it would have been perfect to share such experience with my husband too, as we once used to do, but we split one year ago... So, everyone has its sorrows...
Fifteen years' ago. With a group of friends'. We had Peking Duck. It was delicious!
Nowadays I get Home Delivery for Chinese, Pizza, & Italian, (usually Spag. Bol.)
So much easier than having to get 'dressed-up' to go to a Takeaway.
It's alright for blokes....singlet, shorts & feet thongs, & they're dressed! Inequality, somewhat?
jonaj, your reply, please explain. My answer was honest, so you've a problem with that?
Not EVERYBODY eats in, sitting down at a Chinese Restaurant. As I said, I get takeaway or home-delivered.
I had a Chinese meal in Hillston at the RSL. My husband and I are travelling and have noticed that many RSL's and sports clubs in small towns also double as the Chinese Restaurant and Takeaway.
We live in a very small suburb in NSW. We also have a RSL, with a Chinese restaurant & takeaway service, & it's very popular, except we've never tried it out. A friend told me the takeaway isn't as good as eating in at the restaurant. We also have a little Thai cafe, which the same friend said she had a lovely takeaway from recently.
We eat in our favourite Chinese restaurant every Saturday evening or if we have something else on, it's Sunday. You don't need to get dressed up. Casual and tidy is fine and we look forward to fabulous food every week. We started working our way through the menu but often choose favourites.
New Yuan Restaurant at Chatswood on New Year's Eve where we supped on Steamed whole fish and condiments, appropriate greens, broccoli of-course and fresh fruit to finish especially watermelon. Exceptional feast worthy on every day but superb on this auspicious one
At a wedding in Bali, 5 months ago, & before that, 3 nights in Singapore, on our way to Bali.
PS: Since then, we've had a Chinese meal at our local RSL on my birthday. We ordered 1 meal to share, & still had to take 1/2 of it home with us! We eat very small meals these days. Must be an old age thing!
