What's your favourite type of doughnut?

krispy creme, doughnuts

At one time, there were just two main types of doughnuts. The holly ones spread with icing sugar and sprinkled with hundreds and thousands, and the jam filled type.

Now there are more varieties than ever. From Mexican churro sticks to plump custard fillings, to a trend in 'healthier' baked doughnuts, which are your favourites?

Do you have a favourite place to get them? The local baker's, the supermarket, a food truck, cafe, or do you make your own?

My favourite type of doughnuts are the jam filled ones - specifically strawberry, but other flavours are good too. They need to be generously filled; it is very disappointing when there is hardly anything in them. At least with the holy doughnuts you can see with what you're getting; the filled ones are a bit pot luck.

I prefer them to be glazed rather than covered in sugar, as I find them too sweet. If they are covered with cinnamon on the other hand...
I'm a Boston cream fanatic!
I love the jam filled ones, as there is always just the right amount of jam.
I also like the custard filled ones too.

As for the ones with holes, and icing....not me :(

I love the brand KK...but because of the calories, I haven't had a doughnut in ages.......maybe I had better go get one! yum.......Just about anywhere is a good place to buy, if it looks plump, I'm up for it.
Just cinnamon for me - but I do try to avoid them like the plague...do not have the body type that can merrily partake.
The ones with strawberry inside and it's all warm, yummy!
Byron Bay Organic Doughnuts are amazing.
Plain cinnamon is always a family favourite!
Loved these jam filled doughnuts at a city based bakery in Melbourne - while living there. Otherwise the original glazed Krispy Kremes are great once in a while.
Normally, I wouldn't touch a doughnut, but I make the exception for a really fresh glace Krispy Kreme .. yummm
I had a wholewheat donut in the USA once and that has etched in my mind as one of the best donuts ever!
Chocolate covered donuts with custard inside.
Chocolate Devil is the best
I love the jam filled ones, and also Pineapple glazed donuts. Crispy Cremes are the best donuts I've ever come across - I love their original ones, but could eat anything they have on offer and would enjoy it.
Totally agree with you Lu Lu Belle in the same order. Love the specialty ones that Krispy Kreme bring out for Halloween and similar occasions.

Cookies and Creme doughnuts from Krispy Kreme, although if I am given any type of doughnut, I will not discriminate.
I love doughnuts of chocolate flavours.
Hot jam doughnuts at the MCG when you're about to watch the AFL!

If it's a cold, wet day it's even better!
Anything chocolate in any of the varieties mentioned. Mmmm. I love the churros from Queen Vic Market and the jam-filled one from Twenty & Six (cafe). Delicious!
I really miss donuts. Haven't tried making gluten free one's yet. Seems like a lot of work. But I used to love jam filled donuts.

Although I like sweet things I can resist donuts. I am not keen on them but if I had to eat one I would choose a warm one covered in cinnamon sugar. My least favourite are the iced ones.
Like any type actually, but prefer just plain Cinnamon ones, from my local 'Wendy's store. Service is excellent!
Might pop down & have a couple now, gotta go to 'Woolies' anyway!
I really dislike doughnuts - I find them too greasy and sickly, so don't have a favourite.
The round type with a blob of jam in, I try to guess where to bite to hit the jackpot.
Well, I only eat about 1 doughnut a year, & that's 1 is usually a chocolate 1, but next time I'd love to have a salted caramel 1.Perhapes KK make 1. They have at shop at Sydney airport, so I'll check them out next time I'm travelling to or from Melbourne!I've seen people buying big boxes of them!

Yeah, they sell them by the dozen, literally.
P.S: I'd also like to try a Tiramisu 1 if there is such a thing!

I'm actually not a donut lover but if I had to choose, Balfours used to make these pineapple glazed ones years ago, and they were my favourites.
