What was the last person or event that really took your breath away?

A recent act of kindness that was quite out of character for the person doing it took my breath away recently. It was totally unexpected and it made all the difference to me in a week when all sorts of horrid things had been happening, to have someone recognise that I was desperate and to just help me out without stopping to think about it really was truly breathtaking.

For my 60th birthday a friend gave me a Birthday card, with half a grand in it.

She said ''Happy Birthday''!
That act of kindness, as she knows we have little money took my breath away.
I couldn't spend it all on myself, it did go a long long way.

My 3 yr old son playing the drum set having never being taught. I was surprised to hear him create different rhythms based on the sound of section he was playing.

Good question! I received a phone call recently from a parent of a student I used to tutor. She called to see how my family and I were doing, and to offer to babysit our son whenever we needed it. I was so taken aback by her kindness and generosity, I had a smile plastered across my face the rest of the evening.

I play in my local amateur orchestra, and it was a British, Proms theme, two-three years ago. The female conductor walked out onto stage and I missed a breath - as she was clad in the most colour I'd ever seen her in - black is her trademark.
White blouse, red waistcoat and blue something as well, to represent the Union Jack.

oh, you are so right. He took my breath away yet again when he gave his opinion on wind farms - i had just read that South Korea is investing billions of $ into wind farms in the sea. Same with China. etc.., while I have my breath going to a gasp when I hear our alleged leaders...

The last person to take my breath away was my wife. She looked absolutely smashing as she left for work.

Seeing one of my singing pupils in a production of Sweeney Todd, on the opening night. The whole production was brilliant, but to hear a song I'd worked with her on performed onstage was out of this world.

I was at a well-regimented Club, just finishing my Dinner, with total of 5 persons' at a 10 person table, when one of the waiter's took an uneaten bread roll from the table, cut & buttered it, AND proceeded to eat it then, & there!

I was so shocked, my jaw dropped, & I couldn't believe what I as seeing! Never in my forty years' of membership, had I seen such an action.

It's forbidden for wait-staff to eat in the Dining Room.

It was reported, & amazingly, he still has a job!
In a bygone time, he would've been sacked immediately!
