I nearly always make my own cakes from scratch and the last one I made was a chocolate, cherry cake which was moist and delicious, and best of all, very easy to make.

I used a block a Lindt dark chocolate as well as organic cacoa with the cherries...yummmy

I rarely buy a whole cake as it is generally way too sweet and I use coconut sugar mostly which is not harmful like processed sugars.

I do however buy small cakes for myself -just a one piece and the last one of these was last week and was a lemon brullee with honeycomb, and it was divine!

Because I'm gluten free we don't really buy any cake anymore. My 3 year old and I made a gluten free cheesecake for my sister's birthday a couple of weeks ago. I added jam to the cheese mix not knowing that that would cause the cake to not set...it tasted great though!
I'm not really one for cake but the last one I had was one bought for my birthday, it was a chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse inside covered in a lattice pattern of chocolate sauce the outside lined with dobs of chocolate mousse topped with strawberries yummy! Ahh sweet indulgence aha.
I am not really a sweet tooth, however if out I can have a piece of cake or Florentine with my coffee as a treat....I don't cook cakes now very often, used to like making healthy muffins and I do enjoy cheesecake...yum

The last time I baked a cake was nearly 20 years ago! It was a student experiment and was a cherry sponge. It tasted very nice but I'm just not a sweet tooth in that way and found the effort wasn't justified by the eating!

I have bought cake more recently than that, as my son has developed a taste for a hot chocolate and slice of cake when we're out on adventures. He usually chooses chocolate or coffee cake.
I do not make many cakes anymore, and last week I splashed out and bought a flourless Orange cake. These are made using almond meal instead of wheat flour and are soaked with a gorgeous orange syrup, then decorated with orange slices and crushed pistachio nuts.
Oh, I can't even remember having my last cake! I made piklets the other night. Does that count?

I haven't bought cake in a long time.
Not having an oven, I don't bake now for the last 8 years.

I think it would have been a Chocolate cake, for my son on his 22nd Birthday last year in August.
The last cake I bought was Christmas cake! We don't buy cake often

I made a fruit cake just last week. I also made a pound cake recently for a friends birthday. I never buy cake or boxed mix.

I'm baking more often now I've retired. Weekly I make banana bread (how many depends on how many bananas are left over from my husband's golfing supplies) and usually muffins as my grandchildren are normally the recipients. My son-in-law likes to take whatever I bake to work as well and I try to rotate between the 2 daughters living closest so they all get a share. Chocolate brownies are being baked today as well as banana bread. Also make a mean boiled fruit cake and sultana cake as well as a black forest cheesecake but that is so time consuming so it's only special occasions now.
i made a vanilla cake
I held a surprise 54th Birthday party for my friend who had to retire ill-health and is not entitled for any Government benefits until later this month. I made a traditional Italian Tiramisu which was a hit with everyone (13 of us).
Baked a banana cake years ago, but now i just mostly buy cakes i want to eat from the shop.
Last ready made was a Coffee Cake from Shingle Inn. Yummy with a hot cuppa!

As I don’t have a working oven, I haven’t baked a cake for years, but in April, I bought an Aldi’s chocolate for my birthday dinner with my husband at home. Last year I had a filly dinner gathering, & I bought a lovely tiramisu cake for us all to eat, at the greek restaurant, after dinner, instead of the restaurants dessert. My husband didn’t want anything for his birthday, so I made him a microwave chocolate cake in a mug, witch only took 1 & 1/2mins to make! It was actually very nice!
P.S That 'filly' word should of cause be...'family'. I've now found this question again, after a few years, & the last slice of cake we had was a tiramisu cake, in a cafe in Canggu, Bali. Not at all like tiramisu though. Then we tried another 1 in Ubud, which was slighter better because it was from an Italian restaurant, but it was really a dessert, not a cake as such, but I'll keep looking out for them, in up market cake shops!
