In the bathroom I have laminex, but in the kitchen I have something else and cannot think of the name of it -it is more expensive than marble, is man made, and I got it as my builder had someone cancel an order -otherwise I think it would have been far too expensive for the area.
However, I am glad I got it as it is fabulous! And I could have the different type of sink without the metal around it.

Laminex in kitchen & bathroom.Very standard....
Laminate in both. Kitchen is a natural wood colour. Bathrooms are creamy coloured bench tops. They are wonderful as so easy to clean. Builder went through all the options with us and the pros and cons. We were lucky to get the cherry coloured cupboards (in laminate ) for the kitchen, as they were not going to make that colour anymore. The bench tops are a pine coloured laminate. The colours really compliment each other. My desk from Officeworks is the same cherry colour as my kitchen. You can see the grain in the wood and that is what I like, all natural
Laminex or laminate in the kitchen. Our kitchen is dated...thirty years. It's really in need of a makeover.

Both in the kitchen and bathroom,my benches are laminex...old but very serviceable and shall do me until I am able to renovate!!! I think that as long as they are able to be kept clean, for me this is the priority!
My bathroom has hardwood. A bit of maintenance required to keep it looking good. The kitchen has granite. Granite is fabulous, although expensive. Easy to clean and durable. Have to be careful of vinegar or lemon juice as they can erode the surface but otherwise very tough.
Laminate, but would love to have granite if I had the money when renovating.

I also have laminex in my very old kitchen & bathroom & ensuite. Yellow in kitchen, blue in the bathroom & orange in the brown/bone coloured ensuite. The orange is the same orange colour as the toilet! seat & lid. Even although we weren't asked what colours we had, I thought I'd let you all know anyway!
