When my dog is sick is perhaps one of the things that make me nervous but also if the phone rings in the middle of the night, I absolutely freak out.

Trying to think what makes me nervous.....things like waking in the middle of the night and wondering why I have woken up...can't think what else!

I get really nervous with phone calls which wake me in the night!! I have had a couple of particularly bad ones!
Dental visits always have my nerves on edged beforeI am even halfqway to the surgery and any untoward thing with my beloved pets gets me so upset I can hardly think straight!!
I get very nervous when I fly to the point if there is turbulence I have to take medication to prevent an anxiety attack. It doesn't stop me flying but I don't love the experience.
I also get worried if someone is really late when they're normally in time. I know I need to stop thinking the worst but I can't help it :-(
I'm with you Helen -and it is awful to be like this!

To Helenonthesofa.....
I don't know how close you're to Sydney, but QANTAS has 'Fear of Flying' Courses at their Jet Base at Mascot.
They've been running them for decades', & have a very high success rate. Check Qantas.com or 'phone them for all information.

I have great empathy for you, even though I'm the exact opposite!

Going to the Dentist is about it.

Not much. I think I make other people nervous when I am too calm about things. To me, things usually have a way of working themselves out. The exception would be like Helen's, when somebody is very late who usually isn't.

Making phone calls to people I don't know. I know it's ridiculous, but it makes me so nervous that I often put it off.

Oh! Vee, I once worked, as a Supervisor, in a Fed Gov't Dept which required my staff to 'cold call' persons, getting information which had been left off forms, so said info could be entered into Computer.

Now these ladies (all female staff, as it happened) were 'local housewives', NO denigration meant whatsoever, but all 40-50 of them had NEVER spoken to a 'stranger' over the phone, & they were just SO nervous having to do so!

In my previous workplace, just one of my 'jobs' was as a Trainer, so I showed my staff 'the ropes', & they were fine, after making a few calls!

Any tips for me, donjo?

Being around a guy I fancy. I tend to lose my hand eye coordination, become clumsy, nervous and fumble my words!
turning up to things on my own. ok once there but hate the whole cold call mingling thing.....its easier as you get older like most things.
Having to do Examinations of any kind! I've been like that all my life. I pass them, most times with top marks, but I can never get rid of the nervousness beforehand though!

I get nervous when I am expecting visitors. I dread visitors. It can ruin a perfectly good week.
I get nervous about phone calls a odd times, if my dog doesn't come when called in case she has encountered a snake or toad. I get nervous if there is any confrontation.
I experienced trauma as a child and it has left me nervous in certain situations.
In spite of thinking I have a nervous disposition I am calm in an emergency and can calm upset babies.
HIGHTS! I get clammy hands if I'm anywhere near an edge, e.g. on the top a high cliff, or even if I see someone standing near an edge, very high up, in real life, or even in a movie. HELP! And scary movies, even though I know there's a film crew etc there with all of the actors!
