Retro games

Maybe it is tic tac toe? Perhaps it is marbles or the schoolyard favourite, elastics? Or even dominos? Retro games seems to be making a comeback recently. Do you have a favourite from your own childhood?

Monopoly is my retro game of choice AND is still played every Christmas by our family. It's one of those board games that never dates. Looking back on the game, I realise how educational it was - I learnt about London geography and most importantly the value of the dollar (saving money, investing and buying property). As Christmas day is drawing closer, the dust is being wiped off the monopoly board as we speak.
A great retro game and educational to boot!
Oh I love love LOVED French elastics! I used to play it obsessively - if there weren't any friends around to play with, I would loop my elastic round a kitchen stool and a dining chair and get some practice in that way! My mum thought it was great as well - it kept me busy and fully occupied, with lots of exercise but in one place.... and with no expense required, as the elastic we used was a gift from a friend of my dad's who worked in an elastic factory near by. Marvellous!
Hi Verity, I have introduced my daughter to the retro fun of elastics but I don't remember any of the songs apart from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales etc....can you remember any?
Ummm not off hand, no! We used to make them up I think. Certainly the rhymes we used in my village weren't the same as those they played to in the next village....
Probably Tazos or the Slinky, although I haven't played either since I was a kid.
Hi Bryony, slinkys are making a comeback too!
My all time favorite game is chess. I loved it then and I still do now. My other secondary favorites would be checkers and monopoly.
