Toss up between the wombat (cute and chubby, kind of awkward-looking but boy, can the run when they need to) or maybe the platypus, one of the weirdest little mixed-bags I've ever seen. Misleadingly cute but they can do some damage.
But then again the echidna is also a fascinating little bundle...and the bilby.
Come to think of it, thy're all pretty adorable. Not much help, am I?

The Kimberleys and Uluru are pretty unique. I'd rather visit them than man-made attractions. For me it is a toss up between the koala and the kangaroo, you have so many wonderful animals, as does every country. Australia just happens to have some wonderful unique ones. I would love to visit there but the cost is far too great for the two of us to even dream about going there, but I do watch every program about Australia.

When thinking of Australia (as a transplant from the UK) I guess the Sydney Opera House springs to mind, although I wouldn't venerate it as per the true meaning of "icon".
