Great question! For a soppy one, I love the Notebook. Another Nicholas Sparks one which has me reaching for the tissues is A Walk to Remember. I also love Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually, The Holiday, Ps I Love You (another weepy one), and 10 Things I Hate About You. I do love a good romantic movie.
Good call Helen, The Notebook definitely deserves a vote!.
Definitely The Princess Bride, not just most romantic but one of the best movies of all time. My husband and I had the theme to it at our Wedding.
I am so with you on the Princess Bride ULTIMATE LOVE STORY of all time <3
I like movies in which the man has to "woo" his girl. Bollywood romance is great with a few song and dance sequences as well. "Devdas" (Bollywood) would probably be high on my list.
Two of my favorites arel Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart and Now Voyager with Bette Davis. Nothing beats the old classics!
"An Affair to Remember" would rank high on this list in my opinion. Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant. The right mix of humour and romance.
A tough one - The Titanic. Don't know why. I was with a date at the time of seeing this film also.
I love "Pretty Woman". Richard Gere & Julia Roberts were a great movie couple.
The Notebook and Titanic will always be my favourites for a tear-jerker, super romantic movie.
The Notebook is my all time favourite.
I love 'The Ghost and Mrs Muir'...not the well-known TV series but the original movie (made in 1945) starring Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney. Mrs Muir is a young widow who has moved into an old house that is haunted by the ghost of a (very handsome!) sea captain, played by Harrison. Even though he is a ghost, the two fall in love. I know it sounds corny, but it really is a tear-jerker...very, very romantic. In my opinion, you can't beat the old classics!
I loved the Ghost and Mrs Muir! I grew up watching that show. I loved the tension between the two characters. This brings back so many good memories for me. S
The Princess Bride, hands down. "As you wish".
I like Casablanca, but more for the relationship between Claude Rains and Bogart (I find that has a sort of Romance to it), Die Hard 4 has a romance between the Mac guy and the girl (I don't pay attention to names evidently) and I find Red really romantic. (Bruce Willis and the woman)
My Favorite movie is bollywood movie dilwale dulhaniya le jaenge
I loved the love story behind Jack and Rose in the movie Titanic.
My favourite romantic movie is the bollywood movie, Hum Apke hain Kaun
Notting Hill and Serendipity are also worthy mentions. Does Bridget Jones count?
The Notebook. I hadn't watched it until recently because it sounded very over rated but it turned out to be the best romance movie I had watched in a really long time.
I like 'Falling In Love' with Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro (1984). I have watched it several times and enjoy it just as much each time. Even though it is 30 years old now, the storyline has not dated, just the fashions! It isn't corny.
Random Harvest. Every time I watch it (on dvd because it is 'old' film) I still feel the panic, the heart-breaking pain, wonder how it could happen, how on earth I could ever be so strong ...... and I cry uncontrollably with grief, feeling the fear & confusion, then utter & absolute happiness, gratitude & sodden relief.
I spent ages chasing this on dvd. Every person with a Heart MUST watch 'RANDOM HARVEST' starring Greer Garson & Robert Donat.
No recent film has held such emotiobal power over me.
I am proud to know and own this wonderful film - on dvd.
You must try to watch it. Rent asap then you will understand what I have written.

So Sorry - my mobile went batty & refused to 'send'. Now, it has sent my reply 4+ times! Perhaps it means 'the powers who be' want to ensure veryone shld watch 'Random Harvest' ....
Casablanca & An Affair to Remember - classics both.
I loved 'The Way we Were' with Barbra Streisand? and Robert Redford.
++ 'Japanese Story' with Toni Collette (am never sure why we prefer o/s to our own)
Even Strictly Ballroom was a romance.
Oh! sandw, I thought 'Japanese Story' was just sooo creepy! I can't stand Toni Colette. And even more so since seeing her in that movie!
At the end, the 'continuity' person had a supposed 'overseas' aircraft leaving Perth Domestic Air Terminal! Whoops!
For my money, a romantic film with a few 'twists & turns' would be.........'Far From the Madding Crowd', the original with Julie Christie.
For outright 'sex appeal' romantic would be........'The French Lieutenant's Woman'.
Jeremy Irons & Meryl Streep! Oh wow, wow, WOW!!!
P.S. Would like to add movies, 'Camelot' & 'Man of La Mancha'........the stories' are romantic, but the various film stars in these two films weren't exactly my idea of 'romantics'..........
Oh! joya, what a lovely old-fashioned painting above of 'Robin Hood' & 'Maid Marion'!
I know you asked 'movie', (my contribution below) but I must say the most romantic TV series I've ever seen was BBC's 'Persuasion' with the handsome Irish actor, Ciaran Hinds, & the unfortunately named, but marvellous actress, Amanda Root.
Of course, one must also give 'a nod' to 'Mr Darcy'! Lol!
"Sayonara" with Marlon Brando and Miiko Taka about the romance between a USAF major and a Japanese theatre performer who fall in love while he is stationed at a Japanese Air Force base not long after WWII. The couple have to deal with racism and prejudice during the course of their romance, It was a beautiful story and the music was gorgeous and heart-rending.
