What age would you expose your children to Star Wars?

Almost 40 years on and another movie currently in the making, Star Wars remains as popular today as it did when first released.

Parents of today grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy, and some can't wait to share their love for the Sci-fi classic that has become such a cultural phenomenon.

Do your children watch Star Wars? What age do you think is appropriate to expose children to Star Wars?

I think about 12 years old is o.k.
I don't think it is too much for them at that age....there is a lot worse
these days....that I would no way let them watch.

I think you're right in saying there are far worse things to watch, Star Wars is pretty mild compared to some.

It depends on the child. I watched the first one (I mean episode IV) with my five year old. She wasn't scared by any of it (at least what she saw of it before she fell asleep) and was getting quite into the story. It's different watching things with them from them watching by themselves.

It does depend on the child, we also watched all original episodes with our then 5yr old, skipping any parts he wasn't sure of and talking through the story

Most of the films are PG, so I would probably say 8 with an adult, and 11 by themselves.

Not something I would expose my kids to but if they find it themselves, fair enough!

Star Wars is pretty mild compared to other movies out there - even some of the ones that are aimed at kids are pretty questionable in my opinion. I'd watch it with them to make sure it wasn't too scary, but my 6 year old would probably be fine with it.
