I do not donate to many any more and a few I do all the time are the Heart Foundation and autism WA.
However on saying that, I volunteer and run a book shop for Save the Children, so I guess I do a lot of work for them so would say SAVE THE CHILDREN is my preferred charity even though I do not give them money - however I MAKE money for them!
My favourite type are animal charities but over the years I have also given to Save the Children, Red Cross, Cancer, the Deaf Society and others. I need to stop or I'll be the charity case!
No.
I tend to share the love. That sounds silly but I think you know what i mean.
No, not really. I don't donate to many charities, partly because I don't trust them to give most of my donation to the actual cause !!! There has been much publicity of late about unscrupulous people pocketing most of the money, so I do not want to line another's pocket. I also believe that charity starts at home, so I would only donate to charities that benefit AUSTRALIANS.
I prefer to donate to animal charities as I feel that animals don't have the capacity to help themselves in situations of need. Being on a budget like most people, I prefer to make a purchase with proceeds going to charity rather than a cash donation. I am mindful that some charities only pass on a small percentage of donations to their target group so I try to be discerning and choose charities that direct most of their funds to recipients rather than going to directors, staff and administrative costs.
There was once.
Now I give to SES & Yourtown.
The Red Cross. I used to donate to others some years ago, until I found out from our tax person, we can't claim on them donations anymore.
Haven't heard about that. Thanks for letting me know.
Eeeeek! Thanks Miro. Good info.
Sorry, my bad slip of the finger, should have written: ...'THE' donations, certainly not 'THEM' donations! Ops.
My wife and I are directors for a non-profit animal rescue, so I'm a little biased. We simply don't have the funds to donate to any charity, but we do have time, so we give that freely. I'd volunteer like mad if I had all the time and money in the world. Not all charities are created equal, but I prefer being on the ground, helping in person instead of sending cash.
I favour ones with animals, and children! sometimes it gets a bit much tho, as I also get phonecalls to donate, and then there are the ones on the counters at the supermarket, e.g Sids, Guide Dogs and others!
The Salvation Army is my preference. My father died as a result of the war. Mum always told us to give to the Salvation Army because they were the only ones who did so much for him during the short time he lived after returning from war.
Yes - animal ones. Every pay I have money taken out (before tax) that goes to World Animal Protection. I will also donate to Animal Aid Victoria & Wildlife Victoria and smaller 'self-run' ones like Donkey Rescue or Forever Friends (FFAR). Would love to win big in the lotto so I could do more!
Ye, after witnessing young family members with juvenile diabetes and the struggles of simply attending school and seeing foods they cannot eat and injecting themselves with insulin at school I now regularly make contributions to their charity.
