Some days my body says,"NAP TIME!" very loudly and I have a little rest on my bed and wake up when the body is ready . . . . . . . .sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 3 hours. However, I never take my umbrella to bed =^..^=

I believe it's a good idea not to take your umbrella to bed. I imagine it could be quite hazardous.

I would set my alarm.

But, I really avoid it because I wake up fearful.
Have no idea why, but it's not a good feeling.
I understand entirely, jonaj, it is a feeling of vulnerability. I hate it when the body tells me to nap . . . I have woken in fright a few times too.

jonaj, are you fearful when you take naps during the day or when you set your alarm? The latter makes me uncomfortable. It's like, 'Crap! Sleep before time runs out!'.

I do get tired Vee, and I guess would feel better to take a nap now and then during the day, but if I take one on waking, I become very fearful.
I have no idea 'why', but it has nothing to do with the alarm clock.....I just feel
Not worth the effort, so I just keep going all day, and go to bed at 11 p.m. or mainly midnight, each night.

I don't nap in the day, but I always wake up on my own unless I have to get up super early.
I set my alarm as I have things that need to be done during the day, and I would hate it if I slept too long and missed out on doing them. When I nap, I normally only nap for about 30 minutes. That's all I need. Short, but intense. I never sleep longer than an hour. I only nap on ocassion, usually if I had a poor nights sleep the previous night, and if I am home to have a nap, which is pretty important isn't it !!! Cant nap if you aren't home, although I seem to see people napping wherever I go !!
If I nap it has to be in a semi-upright position. If I lay in bed I wake up with a hangover. And it really has to be for a few minutes.
Oh, I hate the sleep hangover! I woke up once at 6pm . . still light, thought it was 6am - nearly had a FIT as I thought I was late for work. *palpitations galore*

My husband gets these 'seep hangovers'. He swears they are the worst.

I know what you are saying by waking up "fearful". don't know what that has to do with anything but maybe it is to do with your body clock. I only ever happen to fall asleep at the computer or TV in the daytime when I happen to watch TV which is rare, but I do wake up feeling awful. Wonder what a medico would make of that.
Oh! fran.....maybe it's something to do with our 'primeval' Circadian Rhythm!

I know IF I feel tired during the day, & have a Nanna-nap, & wake up of my own accord, I've sometimes 'woken in fright', with heart racing, wondering if it's day or night, or if I'm late for work/appointment/forgot to set VCR for whatever tv programme! Awful feeling, & takes awhile to 'breathe easy'!

I don't nap during the day -no nanna naps for me -waste of precious time!

Would depend if I'd something 'to do' after nap.
If so, alarm would be set.

I try not to sleep during the day, as it makes going to sleep at night difficult. AND I will not take 'sleeping' tablets!

If I go to bed late, & have nothing on the next day, I'll have a 'sleep in' until 9am only!
