Never. I've only owned my own home for a short time. Before that I was renting and not able to do much in the way of decorating. Now, well, it's fine for the moment. It looks like a house with kids in it. I spend some time trying to keep it clean and tidy, but that's about it. Maybe one day I'll be bothered to decorate. For now there are too many other things I'd rather be doing.
Normally for me I do it every 4-5 years.
It doesn't have to cost much, just wipe down walls, repaint (maybe even another new colour).
I like to change furniture, but because we don't like a lot....it's dead simple, and I always seem to have a Shabby Chic Look, because it is timeless and costs little. But I am thinking of getting close to a 'Hamptons' beach look next time...
Years ago people would keep it always the same, I have had friends who look like we are still in the 70's!!....That's scary.
Could not look at the same old thing year after year after year.
Even just painting, new curtains, and unclutter can make a world of difference.
We re-decorated the house in 2014. It was painted throughout, new flooring (most carpet gone except for bedrooms), and some new furniture. Theres not much else we need to do now except to get new drapes and curtains, as these are 25 years old and styles do change. We hope to be able afford to do that in 2017. Then, we will have it as we like it, and wont have to change it for a while
Is Lounge Room, & has heirloom furniture in it.
Suits it very well, with large Library, & beautiful matching timber 'entertainment unit' housing B & O equipment of four speakers', turntable, amplifier, with CD, Audio Cassette players', & Radio.
Has been 'designed' to last, by me. So far 43 years'!
It's my total 'relax' room! Just love it!
It's where our guests' to Dinner sat to have Coffee, & Liquers' after!
Sorry...NEVER! We had our house build in '76, & moved in in early June '77. I didn't know I was supposed to redecorate! We did have our lounge re-covered from blue leather to camel coloured leather, if that counts!
