Bed pillows

They can cause headaches and sore necks and be the reason why you don't get a good night's sleep. Some pillow manufacturers now stamp the date on which you should replace their pillows. What do you think? Do you replace your pillows regularly or on the recommended date?

Probably not as often as I 'should'. I can't believe they now have 'use by dates' stamped onto them. I think the flame retardant chemicals with which pillows are treated are more likely to kill me than bed bugs. This is just another ploy to keep us buying and keep them in business.

I'm sure you're right about that
Almost never. I realise it might be gross, but I have a bad neck and once I find a pillow that works for me, I keep it forever. I have a feather pillow and I have a woollen underlay cover. If and when the pillow starts to get a little flat, I just get a new woollen cover, but the feather part remains the same.
I switch out every couple of years, I find that's how long it takes before they become uncomfortable.
I don't use pillows.
I know it's supposed to be better for your back not to, I just can't get comfortable that way.
What a good idea to stamp the date of them as who could remember when you bought it.

I saw a show once on Oprah saying that you should not keep them more than a year.
I assumed the show was sponsored by a pillow maker as I have never heard this before.

After the show I threw out my favourite, very flat, baby pillow! It was many years old.

I also threw a whole lot of others out that I knew were old, and recently also another few.

I bought very expensive ($180) pillows after that for myself as had a neck problem, and rarely have this problem since then.
So they were worth it, however I do not think these need to be changed so often. They are not feathers.

About once a year - I often move from house to house at the end of my yearly lease, so it seems fitting to start fresh on all levels.
I change my pillows after they have outlived their usefulness. Which in reality is after four years or so.
In always write the date on new pillows when I buy them so I know how old they are. I change then when I think they need it, feathers ones are the best for comfit
Sorry, NO I never change our pillows. They are Duck feathers. & very committable. We bought 2 more duck feathered filled pillows yesterday, in fact. We use 2 pillows at once. Our other pillows on the beds were handmade in Sydney au, along with our donnas. All duck feathers. Our eldest daughter won’t use duck feathered items in her house, because they family are all vegetarians.

I change the pillow in my son's room more often, being a teenager he has certain hormone smells and it stinks, and sometimes in between changing the sheets I air the pillow, as for us, I find it difficult enough to find the right pillow, so no, I don't change them as often as I should.
