Have you read Samuel Taylor Coleridge's 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner'?

It is one Rhyme
that is indeed very very long.
To me it is so very sad, and gives good insight as to what was happening.

Not an easy read, maybe for modern people, they may not understand old English, but so
well written.
It left me feeling a little down, giving such a
foreboding account.

Yes and it was a very long time ago. I seem to recall it had lots of hidden meanings - redemption etc.. but, basically, don't shoot an albatross or bad things will happen and you have to pay the piper, so to speak. ▄︻̷̿┻̿═━一

Not yet. I will be reading this with one of my students. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm thinking it may be a bit too 'old' for the eighth grade. I could be wrong.

Yes, I memorised it as a kid for some reason (I think I just liked the sound of it). I only remember bits and pieces now.

Yes, I did as a schoolgirl. It was one of the set pieces during our year. I loved it - very atmospheric and melancholy and full of hidden meanings.
