Have you made your own ginger beer?

My grandparents used to make ginger beer; Nan fed her yeast with potato skins.

When I got my own house I started my own ginger beer in jars in an undersink cupboard. It exploded on at least one occaision, bit of a mess but not a deterrent.

No, not ginger beer as ginger makes me sick! My mum used to brew it though, along with a whole bunch of other homemade drinks. I have made other drinks myself, following in her footsteps just nothing with ginger....

Nope. It's 'Kirk's' for me!
When I was a kid, it was called 'Gardiner's'.
Unfortunately, they don't make the original yellow 'Creaming Soda' any more.
What they have now is 'red' & what was called 'Cherry Cheer' when I was a kid!

Yes.
My late husband used to make our ginger beer, and a good brew it was.
One time when we had about three dozen bottles packed in a top kitchen cupboard, (our usual spot for several years) it all exploded all over the kitchen.
Apart from having to clean the ceiling walls and floor, we were picking out small pieces of glass from the cupboard doors for years!
We never made another batch after that one!

Mum used to make it regularly. I used to make it when I was first married but couldn't be bothered nowadays.
