Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a great source of protein, and your children are more likely to eat them if they have participated in their production. Have you tried this fun family activity?

We got my girlfriends dad a oyster mushroom box from a garden centre an it was really good he was able to get several growths out of it and you can keep it in your house I have an apartment and I have been thinking to grow them. Easy way to get results
Not intentionally, we had a rather yummy looking batch pop up in our lawn. Alas they were of the poisonous variety and not suitable for eating. So off to the supermarket for me.
No, but I'd really like to give it a try.
I've never grown mushrooms; we would never get through the amount that it would produce, especially since my dad's allergic.
No I haven't tried to grow my own.
I love this little bit of fungus...I must admit.
Have also heard some very sad stories of people dying, from picking the wrong ones!
I may give it a try one day, to grow some....right now I have a Rabbit problem.
That takes up my energy....Will have to stick to just buying them.
I have tried growing my own mushrooms to no avail. I thought I'd done everything correctly with the instructions, but perhaps I hadn't. Because all I got was mould!
We had a similar problem. My plant pathologist husband says that quite often the kits are out of date or have not been stored correctly. The one in the photo came from a farmers' market, and 3 crops came off it.

Which farmers' market?

I knew it wasn't me! Haha you have saved my sanity.
Manning Markets in Perth. Another tip is to keep them in the bathtub.

Never grown my own mushrooms. I can't grow anything, not even plants, so growing vegetables and fungus is a far cry.
I have not, but oddly enough a few weeks ago while I was in Bunnings I saw the home packs, and thought about iy.
I came home and looked it up on the net, however then decided I have too much else going on.

I do like the idea of home grown ones as I will only buy Australian mushrooms, which is very limiting as apart from the buttons and field ones, all the others we get in WA are imported.
