Marionettes are rather difficult to operate properly.

Have you ever tried to use a puppet or marionette?

Did you succeed?

We bought several marionettes one time when we were in Europe which is where there is a big factory.

We bought about 4 thinking we would give them to the grandchildren (which we did not yet have).

However, they were so complicated, and I ended up selling 3 of them -they were fantastic detail -Charlie Chaplin, a Science fiction one, Pinnochio -which I still have etc.

Also they are quite large and children would have to be about 10 years old to be able to operate them.

Very difficult even though it looks so easy.

Yes,I have often been lucky enough to be in the position to give this very difficult exercise a go!! Not too successfully,I must admit, but definitely worth trying!! It is no wonder that I enjoy puppet shows so much, even the ones featuring simple Hand Puppets such as Lamb Chop who is Shari Lewis's little friend and who I utterly fell in love with as a child!! It was due to watching this sweet and often very cheeky little lamb, that I discovered my further appreciation for puppets of the far more intricate marionette type!! And as for Sesame Street,The Muppets and all of the other Jim Henson characters? well.... Just too clever for words!
I have never tried to use a puppet or a marionette doll

Yes and no. I have trouble enough coordinating my own body, never mind a marionette.
Yes as a kid used puppets

I have used one, it to me was really hard and we had a lot of fun.
But....that's not to say my new job is a puppeteer!

I shall leave that to the people who love the Art, and spend years perfecting it.

Yes, both in Grades I-IV. Had no problems using either.

Then used puppets again with my kids, when they were little, at which they cackled, & laughed!
Yes. In drama class while in the seventh grade. I wasn't any good at it.
