Did you have them in an inside aquarium or outside?

I have only ever owned some goldfish which I had in my current house ina pond in the back with a small waterfall.

They suddenly died after about a year and I recently thought of getting more but decided against it as it was more work and I am having problems with algae in the pond now that summer weather is here.

Also I thought my sighted dog (one is blind) would probably chase them!

When I was a little girl, we used to have pet fish. We had a beautiful goldfish and a black fish (I'm not sure which sort it was) I always thought was ugly. Silly kid. Now I think that keeping fish can be cruel, especially if they are confined to a small tank.

My daughter had 2 or 3 gold fish which she kept in a friends fishpond. When they moved house, the next family were going to cement in the fishpond, so we took them down to a friends fish pond, who has a lot of carp. I know the carp are still there, but I don’t if the goldfish are still there or not. That was about 15 years ago!

When I lived in Melbourne, until I was 22,we had stunning tropical fish which required a heater, filter and all the other paraphernalia which goes with this 'hobby'. They were SO gorgeous and very relaxing to watch. We had very beautiful, highly coloured ones, even though they were Fresh-water rather than Salt Water varieties! The tank was about 4 feet long and 2 feet deep,(1200 x 600mm),so the cleaning was rather a time consuming job,but well worth the effort and I must say that I do miss them. I could watch them for ages......
Yes, I've kept bettas (one at a time, they're territorial) in a little 16L tank indoors. I like them. They each seemed to have quite distinct personalities.
As a child I had a common goldfish.

It was really lovely, till it floated to the top of the bowl one day, so we flushed it down the toilet.

Hence no more after that!
No. I never have. My daughter had them a couple of years ago until she got her kitten. She didn't do a very good job of looking after them. We tried to keep them alive, but we could only do our best.
We had a number of gold fish and guppies over the years which were kept in a big tank on top of the fridge. We'd sometimes come home and find one on the floor so thought the cat must have found a way of getting to them. However we blamed the cat until we saw one throw itself out of the tank. Don't know why but figured not to replace them after their demise. I do love seeing tropical fish in various commercial premises. They are so calming.

Lets see how many i can remember, oscars, red devil, blind cave fish they have no eyes, kuhli loaches, pepper and albino cories, mainganos, convicts, bristle nose catfish, siamese fighting fish, silver perch, there was a cod, guppies, we also had colonies of african cichlids but i can not remember all their names and hubbie is sleeping now.
Years ago. Goldfish. Neons. Guppies. Siamese fighters. (Not all at once.)

Yes, years' ago had Goldfish.

My little son got the 'craze' after winning one at Royal Show. We bought indoor fish tank, with all accoutrements, for his bedroom. He loved his little fish, & looked after them very well. Then we expanded the family 'pisces'.

Their 'tank' was an upturned concrete pipe, about 5' high, inverted, in shady corner of backyard.

They had their air bubbles pump powered by underground cable. Very 'upmarket' at the time, over 20 years' ago'!

Had them for a long time, as they kept breeding, so their environment must've been a happy one! Lol!

Many years ago we kept tropical fish. Over a number of years we had neons, siamese fighting fish, a silver shark, black mollies, catfish and there were others but it is over 25 years ago so I don't remember them all. We also looked after fish for friends who were interstate for a year.
