I have only ever had it once while holidays in Europe - in the country in Austria - I touch wood as I say it.
I was going to book to take my family on a cruise and had picked the ship, time, etc, when I turned on the news and there was an article on Norovirus and the dreadful things that happened on the ship I was going to book on!
So, home I stay.
I love the pic, Finy. I can relate to the people in it.
Not to my knowledge. Himself got a dose a few years ago and I will never forget it. I thought he would die. Doctor in the middle of the night, lost nearly 5 kilos . . . it was horrifying - the flow just would not stop. He was off work for nearly a week. This makes me think I have never had it. Amen.
oh yes !! I have had it many times ! You just feel so terrible, and wish the world would end. If I knew what the kitchens looked like where my food is prepared, I would probably never eat out again !! You just have to hope for the best when dining out, and usually you will be fine.
I sure have. Its an experience I would wish on no one.
YES.
2 times that I can remember.
I was quite ill.
Once in 1965
then in 1994...Wow! I was so sick.
Now I watch everything, the memories of those two times has not left me.
Yes, I've had it twice. The first time I was around 16 and I was in London - it was fried rice that must not have been heated properly. The second time was in New York from a restaurant in Little Italy.
I feel I may of had it once, buying a chicken a few years ago from woolies, both me and my husband suffered, when I went back to tell them, the lady behind the desk didn't want to accept it, and at the same time she had a real nasty cold, I will never forget that.
No I have never had food poisoning. By the looks of the comments I hope never to have it. Must admit I do have a iron stomach and I will try and eat anything once, of course if it is food suitable for humans
I have had it just once. And believe me, ONCE is enough in any lifetime!!!!! I shall not go into details at all, as it was truly excruciatingly ghastly as well as traumatic!
Yes. A timely question as my most recent experience was earlier this week!
Italian restaurant. Veal & prawns.
Girlfriend and I ordered the same dish.
We both had the same end result.
Barely made it home and was incredibly ill.
Never going back to that place again :(
My girlfriend emailed. No response as yet.
Yes. Husband cooked dinner for us after I had day surgery. He was fine but I ended up in emergency on a drip and medication. An experience I'll never forget in a hurry.
GOOD GRIEF!!! you poor lady :(
Yes. I collapsed.
It took 4-6 weeks' to be fully recovered.
Don't think I've vomited as much as I did, ever.
Yes. The first time I gave blood I had a dodgy meal from a shopping centre food court afterwards and was very sick. I was as upset about them having to dump my blood donation (they have to if you get sick within 24 hours I think, in case there's something in your blood) as I was about all the vomiting. It's not pleasant. I try to be careful about food hygiene at home but there are no guarantees when you eat out.
My mum & I were having a weeks holiday in Mexico City on our way to NYC then to Boston for a friends wedding, in '68. For 1/2 a night, & 1 whole day I was throwing up! I can't remember what I'd eaten to cause it, but I thought I'd never be well again!
