This has not happened to me in the city however in the country we had several animals in the roof apart from white ants!!

We had possums at one stage and we had something else which we never discovered what it was.

We also had river rats which were huge and made a lot of noise even though the ceiling was lined with thick insulation -they probably ate that too!

GROSS! RATS! LOL. How did you deal with them, Finy?

We once had a bird in our roof. I felt so sorry for the poor thing, but the funniest thing happened. The man hole was open and it must've flown into the garage, but we had no idea until my sister went into the garage. Oh my was she surprised and terrified - as was the bird. It was hilarious looking in on the whole ruckus, but I did feel badly for the bird.

Well a few times.

I also had a little bird trapped, so opened the man hole in the roof...and let a HUGE amount of light around that man hole....get that little bird to follow the light.

It did, and flew out the window in a matter of minutes.
Yes, we have possums in our ceiling. Some nights they can be very loud. At some of our houses we had pythons up there too.
Yes,I have often experienced Possums in the area between the roof and ceiling. This has not occurred for quite some years though.

Yes - a small possum in New Zealand.
It sounded like it wore hobnailed boots the way it ran around the attic space.
The animal exterminator laid poison which I am told dried the animal so nothing was left rotting in the attic.
Possums are regarded as vermin in NZ.

Not to my knowledge, but I'm sure there have been animals up there

Living in Far North Queensland we often had possums in our roof. The worst was when one died in there. The smell was like nothing you can ever imagine. To this day I still feel sorry for (and grateful to) the animal control person who got it out!
Yes, a possum. Banged about during the night, then hunkered down next to the hot water heater in the daytime.
