Have you ever had a ride in a helicopter and if not, would you want to?

I once went in one in Pt Hedland (mining town in WA) and we landed on a huge ship leaving the port (I was friends with one of the port workers at the time!).

I was petrified, and do not want to do it again!

I agree it can be a bit nerve-wracking but that's half the fun! It's strange really - I have an anxiety disorder, but manage to control it by focusing on what's going on and how the aircraft works and responds to control-inputs from the pilot. Flying with military pilots is the most interesting - they're allowed to do stuff that civilian pilots lose their licences for, which I think may have aged me a little prematurely, but it's an experience I will never forget (and since I became a father and am getting older, increasingly happy not to repeat).

LOL parks! i dont know though how you can do that sort of thing with an anxiety disorder.

I HAVE been lucky enough to ride in a helicopter,and I LOVED it so much that I would do it again if the opportunity arose!!

Yes! three times and each was amazing! New Zealand, 12 Apostles and Uluru. 12 Apostles was my favourite - very dramatic scenery!

Yes. My husband and I took a helicopter from Fiji's main island to the one on which Castaway was filmed. It was breathtaking.

Yes, I flew over New York City in 2010. Fantastic!! What I really want to do now is take another flight in a helicopter with open doors!!

Yes. Numerous times. Flown them too. Awesome fun. Don't know how people can afford it though (mine have always been free because many of my friends and relatives are pilots - civilian & military).

Doing night-vision search and being winched in & out of choppers is pretty cool too.

I think the best ride I ever had was in Oakey (near Towoomba in QLD) with an army reconnaissance pilot when we flew under a tree at what seemed like a million miles an hour and just missed a cow.... Apparently that's not uncommon....

When in Army, travelled by 'Chinook'.....just loved it!

Was at 'El Questro' Station & was flown by helicopter up Chamberlain Gorge. It was an 'open' one ie no doors, so lent out to get some fabulous photos, hanging onto roof gutter, to my left! Was strapped in, of course! Wow! Flying in & out of gorge sides was great, speedy, & awesome!
Was going horse-riding, same place, so pilot took me from Homestead to stables, on the chopper! He was leaving at same time as me to go there, so worked out perfectly! Had to 'slum' it back by 4WD, though! Never been taken to horse riding centre by helicopter before, & probably never will again! What an absolute hoot!

We had a 30 minute helicopter flight over Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). I though I might be motion sick but it was a very smooth ride and nothing short of awesome.

Yes in an open helicopter flying over the Bungle Bungle Ranges in WA 20yrs ago i would do it again in a flash.

Yes, I have been in one with my son when we went to Phillip Island. He loves V8 Supercars, so we took a ride around the circuit. He filmed the race track and the scenery and with this footage, was promptly accepted into Film and TV school. It was so much fun. The view is definately better

No I haven't - not sure I'd want to. However, my nephew is an army helicopter pilot in the UK, so any time I wanted that experience it could be arranged.

No, I’ve never been in a helicopter. We flew over the Grand Canyon in ’89 in a very small plane & I was so scared, I cried to my self, all the way there & back! I’m not scared of big plains though. I’ve been in about 120-150 of them already. (Lots of Sydney-Melbourne return flights!) & many overseas flight as well.

Very interesting coming into land at the Airport!
