Yes, I went for about 5 years after my daughter died years ago. At the time it did me a lot of good.
However part of the reason I went was that my legs are fat at the top and I wanted to get rid of that - after about 4 years they told me that was the shape of my legs and it would not alter!!
I stopped not long after that and havent been back to a gym since and have no desire to do so - I walk the dogs every day now for exercise.
Sorry to hear about your daughter Finy.
Nope. I have tried working out on my own on a few occasions to keep fit. I rather playing soccer/football.
Yes. I went to a gym and did aerobics when I was a teenager. I really enjoyed it. Everyone from ONJ to Jane Fonda was doing aerobics then. No tiny leotards for me though. A few years ago, I started Zumba classes, but I wasn't very good at it, so I only went for about 6 months.. I never actually joined a gym, just paid casually, but they tried to get me to join.
Indeed I have and had a great time....I think?
Not since I was young and skinny. I don't like the judgment that I feel when i walk into a gym. Probably all in my mind, but even so.. enough to keep me away!
No, I have never been to a gym and have never had any wish to do so. It just is not my thing!!! I used to walk to and from work every day when I was working, and I found this extremely good for general fitness and well as being very enjoyable 'me' time!! I always walked everywhere, even when I was a child!
Yes I used to go regularly
Only in a gym's swimming pool!
Just do laps, as I've always done, when I was training for Championships' in my youth!
Yes but it was over thirty years ago. At the time I enjoyed it but I wouldn't be able to do any of it now.
Many years ago when I was young I tried a couple of different gyms. I found them difficult as there tended to be long waiting times for the equipment and I felt self concious surrounded by a whole bunch of really shapely and fit people. Add to that the fairly hig cost and the tendancy of most gyms to want a one year subscritpion and they are definitley off my list.
These days I get my exercise walking the local streets and parks and often drive to a new park for some variety. This is FREE, low impact and spending time inthe outdoors is lovely.
Yes, I did...once, with 1 of my sisters, many, many ago now. We were 11 months into the 12 month membership, when I pulled something doing a simple aerobics section, & I heard a snap sound. I then decided I'd only do the gym stuff, but that didn't work out, & I was advised not to do anymore. My back did heal, after a few years, of seeing someone who f'ixed' my back, thank goodness. I was also advised not to run or lift anything heavy. These days I could have sued, but it wasn't thought of in those days!
Many years I went to a gym a few times but did not enjoy it. I was self conscious and just wanted to finish and go home! I prefer to walk outdoors on a regular basis for exercise and when I was younger enjoyed playing basketball.
Yep - 4-5 times a week, every week, without fail. It's the only way I can counter my sweet tooth! I feel really guilty if I miss a session - which is stupid I know, but I can't help it...
