There are not many foods I have not tried but this is one of them.
I would not say "ick" or "yuk" to any food as I was brought up not to do this, however up until someone mentioned Okra on another question I hardly knew of its existence!
I do not see them in the shops, or could be that I take no notice, and also do not know how you cook these little things!
Its good when done properly. When it is overcooked its just a slimy mess. The sliminess is good in some soups and stews.
Oh dear, slimy does not sound nice . . . my mother used to cook everything to death!! LOL
Yes!
I love it steamed, or in one-pot recipes.
No. I haven't. I cant say that I have seen it at our local Woolies. It looks like something I would put in a stir fry.
No I have never had this veg at all, I would try it if it was made for me...
No and I really want to. I must get some. C'mon Finy, you and me . . . let's Try The Okra!
Yes,I have had it in stir fry dishes. It is always available at the local markets here in the tropics of Nth Qld.,so there is no difficulty in finding it! Even the supermarkets have had it in their stores up here!! You can actually do so many things with this item,It is amazing!!! I just 'googled it' and found out that it is a member of the Cotton family!!! Now! THAT is interesting indeed!!!!
Yes,it was really interesting to find such a strange piece of information!!!
Yes I have had okra quite a few times when I was a child and living at home, both my parents from the mediteranian countries, mum used to cook it, and no I didn't like it.
no. never heard of it. willing to give it a shot tho
Yes, I've tried it. I think it was in a curry. It made the curry a bit gooey, but we didn't mind. The taste was interesting.

And apparently my fingers were too...
Don't know about the description being "like slime" but it is described as being mucilaginous…..leave it up to your imagination.
Yes..Okra immersed in water overnight and had the next day is supposedly good for Diabetes. Also sauteed plainly with garlic, salt and paprika tastes fantastic. The crispy okra can then be added to any salads.
Yes, I have. I absolutely love this underrated vegetable! I would normally cook in an okra gumbo with either beef, lamb, or chicken cubes then serve it with bread or basmati rice.
No its looks do not make it look appealing.

No, I've never bought them, because i didn't know with to do with them, but I could have looked that up on line, if I'd thought of it at the time! I thought I may need to fry them?
