Have you ever done your genealogy?

I haven't gotten past a basic family tree of four generations. I would like to though. My husband's cousin's mum has done extensive research on her family. She has found that their family originally came from Russia something like a couple of hundred years ago. I think it would be absolutely fascinating to do, but I imagine it could take a long time to research.

I've never done it, but I have an Aunt who actively keeps a family tree. She loves it!

I've never researched my genealogy, but my grandma did a long time ago, and has documents on it. Although I find it interesting to some degree, another part of me just can't be bothered to do all the searching or go to the expense. I find it more interesting to just hear stories about relatives from living family members. Any other back than that, and it is really just a bunch of names.

Bryony, for me it is like solving a puzzle and yes, it is just names, but the puzzle fits together and interlinks, and I find it fascinating. It has not cost me anything apart from some postage.

We had a little search,but it can be costly. All my family and myself,were born in England.

I had a little peak at it but my family is so scattered. We did ask someone to do it, but they came back and said that half my family can't be traced! LOL

Really -can't be traced -that is unusual.

No but it is on the horizon as I have just added it to my list of things to do.

I have tried to do mine. It is VERY time consuming though, and I have come across more than one brick wall to my progress, especially on my fathers side. I have traced back to the 1700s on both sides. My aunt is writing a book about my husbands side if the family.
