Yes, I have done several -paper tole, and I am currently making a May Gibbs scrapbook which involves finding books with illustrations by May Gibbs and intricately cutting out each picture and gluing it into a scrapbook.
I used to love paper tole -do I have the right word? Cutting up about 5 pieces of the same picture and gluing on top of each other. Though I now have about 20 delightful framed pictures sitting in my garage!
I love decoupage and making collages, both which require scissors. I also enjoy card-making, when I have the time, and like to incorporate these techniques in my creations. Loads of fun!
I have done very traditional Decoupage where the precise and exact cutting out of images is the most fiddly part!! I am so very fussy with this old craft that I even do the full 50 coats of varnish!! With each coat requiring 24 hours to dry,it is obviously a very time consuming art.I used to do half a dozen items at any time so that I felt I was actually achieving something when all the varnish coats were completed!!!
I always used to make all of my own greeting cards which involved the same type of cutting out of images, but no varnishing, and I have covered Easter eggs and Christmas baubles in a similar fashion. I am no longer able to enjoy this art so much as my hand are rather damaged with arthritis despite my relatively young age! So now I simply enjoy looking at other creative people's works!!
I tried once, and then saw why!
they never gave me scissors much in school!..lol
No patience for a craft and scissors.
(Unless doing my sewing) :) that's a very different task.
P.S......As you can see this lady is a Master at Paper cutting!! all I can say is WOW!
oh, she looks like me! oddly enough I thought I have no patience but I can spend hours doing this sort of thing -used to rush home from work and start "cutting"! Yet I will not sew...
It's funny how we find what we like & want to do....lol. :)
Jonaja, I thought you were going to add: "And that's a photo of me"
I think I had my fill doing school projects a long time ago.
I leave the crafting to my wife.
I am not interested in craft at all. I was forced to do it at school. Now I have a choice, I say ' No thank you !! '. My mother-in - law made beautiful quilts, so I just admired her work. I love going to craft markets, and I have bought beautiful unique items that others have made.
I love craft, from making hot air balloons to sewing. Many craft ideas too numerous to mention.
I’ve only been making collage Christmas cards for my parents friends since I was 5. I’m in my late 60’s now, & there’s not many of them left. One of my parents friends was the Australian artist, Margaret Olley. When she passed away in 2013, her house contents were moved to her Lismore museum, as well as all my cards I’d send her every year, I have been told!
Nope! Craft & I are oddfellows!
Don't have inclination, or time, even as a kid.
Preferred to colour-in or paint, in books, & make plasticine figures.
I liked to bead when I was a little girl. Used scissors for that.
I like to scrapbook and do similar arts and crafts, which involves a lot of cutting!
Yes. I love creating things and that often involves scissors. I paint and I am a pastel artist, but I still pull out scissors for the occassional mixed media artwork, or a special card. I sew, and knit and crochet a little. I have tried lacemaking, decoupage, embroidery, beadwork and jewelry making. I have made paper models of our house when we planned an extension- I don't think there is much I wouldn't try. I grow herb and snip them up with scissors too, where do we draw the line at craft. Surely cooking is a craft too. I also groom my dog with scissors as well as clippers.
Annfi, You certainly are a crafty person! Do you use scissors in cooking? The only craft I've ever done were collages for my parents friends, since I was 5 years old.
There's only about 2 of my parents friends alive now, since my mother is now 97 & 1/2 & my father passed away in'77!
I would like to encourage you Miro, and anyone to have some creative fun with art or craft. The secret to having fun is not to be worried about the outcome and to enjoy playing. I use scissors in cooking when I snip up herbs.
