I have rarely done this -I can only remember one time that I burnt it so badly that I had to cut the whole top off the cake. However, I ended up throwing it out anyway.
I always set the time on the oven as I tend to go back to my computer or whatever I was doing and can easily forget till I smell it is burning.
Also I have a convection/microwave which is brilliant as it is smaller than my normal oven and heats much quicker -I will always set the time on this one also.
Popcorn in the microwave and various other foods in the oven.
Only the Oven.
Never the Microwave....
Never in the microwave. Definitely in the oven. It took a while to get used to the oven at my current home which didn't have any markings to indicate temperature settings.
Before I had a timer on my oven then yes I did burn a few things just by forgetting they were on. I have had a timer for past few years and haven't burnt anything since
Yes. I have burnt things in the oven before, but never the microwave. The microwave turns itself off when it has been on for the required time. We have a timer on our new oven.
I cannot remember burning anything in either a normal or microwave oven! I have burnt things on the stove top though!!!
I only use the microwave to reheat food, so haven't burnt anything in the microwave!
On the other hand..... I have burnt some puff pastry in the oven before. I had some frozen puff pastry in between two baking trays (trying to crisp it up) and I didn't know how long to bake it for, so just let it in there until I can smell it.... 'burning'!! To my horror the whole thing was black when I took it out of the oven. haha that went into the bin of course,
I made a pavlova that turned out like the apparition in the photo . . . and the smell was, well, there are no words. Turns out the thermostat was fritzed. Boy, did I have fun trying to scrape that baby off the pan!!
Oopsie - that was the oven, I should have made that more obvious.
Yes on both counts and too many times to count.
M/W, no.
Oven, yes, but so long ago, can't remember what it was!
Only on top of the stove. About 38 years ago I burnt some food, couldn't put the little fire out, so I had to,rang the fireman & I asked not to put the siren on when they came to the house, but they did anyway No damage done! Recently I had a saucepan on the hot plate, with the lid turned upside down in it. When the fire alarm went off, I was looking at a story on the tv! Ops! I burnt the saucepan,& the plastic handle of the lid. The awful burnt plastic smell lasted 3 days! I can still use the saucepan & the lid though. .
My husband is the one who burns everything in our house, including the cooktop😭
