Have you ever been to the Hay Plains and what do you think of wide open spaces?

My husband and I visited Hay last September. I love being where the earth just stretches out for ever and loved the town as well. I felt as though I could live there for ever.

Coming from Sydney, and I have not heard of these!
I find open spaces like this rather boring -there is little to see and nothing to do.

I would far rather drive through the country where there are trees, shade and some beauty.

No I haven't. Wide open spaces like that can be very refreshing if you live most of your life in a city, but I get bored with them after a while.

Haven't been.
I feel a little insecure with wide wide open spaces.
A tree or two would have to happen, if I had land and lived there....it can be very mundane, just lots of openness.

Yes, have driven through the Hay Plains a number of times - I alway say the same thing, omg, i wish I could slice this country in 2, and take out a l000km - it's toooo big. NZ size is just right to me.
On one occasion, it was green, with fog swirling around - quite magic.
I admire the people who live out there. Us city types seem to think a bus/train that is 5 mins. late is a crisis in our lives.
