Game of Thrones - the book or the show?

I love that dress! Is it a Black Milk one?

I've watched Game of Thrones up to season three so far. I have read some of the comics but I haven't tackled the actual books yet so I can't really compare the two. The comics are apparently closer to the books than the show is and there are a few differences, like the White Walkers in the show, which are sort of ice elf type things with very cool looking icy swords.

My favourite characters are Arya, Tyrion and Brienne.

Although I haven't read the books, yes, I'm a fan of the TV series.

I love this series. Have watched every series to date and can't wait until next series comes out. I think the actors, scenery, special effects, storylines (I could go on and on) are amazing. My favourite characters are, of course, Tyrion, Arya and Daenerys. Wouldn't it be great to have dragons as pets?
I haven't read the books as the size is quite daunting. However, my son is an avid fan of George R. Martin and has read every book in the series.
