I seem to remember just once having a black eye but cannot remember what it was from.
It was not from someone punching me though!
Think I DID actually walk into a door hard once but many years ago and it was not real bad anyway.
Oh yes, I have -when I had an operation -had a melanoma removed from the top of my nose and woke up with black eyes!
Not a pretty sight -also had an operation on my eyes as one was "drooping" and had a black eye then also but these were both from operations.
Yes, from surgery to remove a nearby mole!
Didn't know there were so many colours one's skin could change through!
I wasn't a 'happy-chappy' at all, as like most women, very 'thinggy' about one's face, in public. But what's to do?
Me too. Mole removed plus minor surgery . . . . lovely black eye.
Yes when my ex husband punched me.
No never, thank goodness!
Could not even think how painful that would be.
They are one way to also get people looking at you, from 'how' did that person get that black eye?
If a woman....well people seem to be a tad upset seeing one , they jump to conclusions.
I have never had a black eye as a matter of fact.I have never seen anyone with one either.
I have been hit in the face with all sorts of hard, toddler toys so yes, I have had black eyes before. Although never very serious or hugely noticeable.
I have had two severe black eyes in my life! The first was when my son was a baby and the lid of the washing machine fell down clipping my right eye brow bone as I was lifting nappies out of the machine! It was a jolly good thing that my ex,who was rat bag in so many ways, was never physically violent,so no one would have believed me if I HAD said it was his doing!!!HA HA HA !!! The second time was just over 2 and a half years ago when I blacked out and fell flat on my face to the tiled floor at the bottom of 3 steps! Now,THIS was a very serious shiner and I spent a week in hospital with 3 fractures to the left eye socket,as well as a broken nose and I have been now left with permanent nerve damage through the left side of my face! I looked like I had gone 10 rounds with Muhammad Ali and lost every one!! I will never comprehend why boxers do what they do for a living!! I still haven't really fully recovered from those breaks, and some of the issues are never going to resolve. The pain was so intense being in my face, that I will never, EVER forget it!
Yes, I once hit my eye right on the corner of a chest of drawers. It was a bit hard to see for a day or so and went some pretty colours. :/
That! would have hurt badly!!!!

No, thank goodness. They look terribly painful
Yes, I was playing ring-a-rosey with a group of toddlers when one of them accidentally head butted me, knocking me out for a moment and leaving me with a swollen bruised eye.
No I have never had a black thankfully
Yes. I also had to have an op. IT HURT. Then you forget and try to rub it. Ouch. On top of that you get the 127 questions relating to which stairs you fell down, door you walked into or husband's fist you "encountered". *sigh*
Oh! Rice......have just had L eye op., & surrounding tissue wasn't as 'bruised' as when had mole removed! Go figure!
Yes when my now ex husband punched me.
