I was a cooking teacher, so my children have always helped me in the kitchen from a young age. I know some parents might be nervous about children using sharp knives, but in my experience the earlier a child is exposed to the correct way of handling these items in a safe way, the better.
YES! If they like to help, I always try to encourage them, although it normally always means more cleaning up for me.
One day, I hope.

My kids are all grown up but I doubt very much if they would have liked to help me!

Im sure they would rather play outside or play with a game or nowadays on the computer.

My kids do - especially if I'm baking a cake! There are lots of child friendly recipes to get them started early - for ideas check out www.kidrecipes.com.au

My kids are 25 and 22... so no... not really. They just make a mess.
They sure do. Even my 2 year old helps out in ways that he can, like rolling cookie dough into balls. As they get older they can take on more responsibility. My older ones are great at making pancakes.
Yes, my son started getting very interested at 10, helping, watching in the kitchen.
He's now a Sous Chef, with Patisserie Certificates & B.Hosp.Mgt., living his dream!
Lots of hard study, but he did well & just loves it!
