I used to always take SOME cash so that I had enough when I arrived at the airport and did not have ot change at an expensive firm in the airport.

I also used to take a lot of travellers cheques, however nowadays, two credit cards are ample as I can withdraw local cash, for a fee, anywhere round the world.

However, I still feel better having a bit of cash when I arrive in a foreign country after a long plane trip.

In the past, yes, but now,I feel cards are much safer for the bulk of my money..I just keep a small amount of cash on me now.
I like to have a small amount of cash on me when I arrive and once there I just use cards and ATMs

I would take some cash

I would take a 5th of my money, in cash.

That amount was fine for me.
Then cash more in when I needed it.

We donlt carry much cash. Credit and debit cards have really made this a bit unnecessary.
Nope. Countries I have travelled to either use the same currency as where I lived or had currency trading restrictions so you can only get cash inside the country.
Debit and credit cards have vastly reduced the need for cash these days anyway. I hardly ever use any, anywhere!
Used to take only a small amount of each country's cash, for emergency.
Other than that, Travellers Cheques, usually USD.
But nowadays, debit or credit card(s) are ok, but less safe, if stolen, than TC's!

We don't take any local cash when we go cruising, but we did, when we fly to Bali via Singapore 2 & 1/2 weeks ago. The banks charge far to much to change over our money, when visiting another country!
