Hardly! It is half a century ago now when I married young!
I DID keep it for many years, even had it altered so that I could wear it again, and indeed I did wear it again to a ball however, then I put on weight and it no longer fitted me.
It had a lot of lace on the front so think it must have looked like a wedding dress even after altering!
I think I kept it for about 18 years. What a shame I didnt hang on to it - no idea why, but a shame! Actually I think it started to discolour and I still have the original receipt for it - cost a fortune.
My 1st husband got rid of my W/Dress, and I was so upset because it was the one thing my Mother bought for me with part of her life insurance money.....I wanted to keep it for that reason. It was the most lovely 'Chantilly Lace''.
The second one (yes there was a second one) in cream got thrown out.... by me this time!
I think my Mum and Dad have it in storage at their house still. In theory I could wear it again since it wasn't white so it doesn't scream "bride!" but I'm not sure it would fit me. Perhaps my daughter will want it one day.
Yes, I still have mine after 48 years & 3 days short of 2 months, but it wasn't a wedding dress as such. It was a pure silk mini dress my Mum & I had seen in a shop window of the Strand Arcade in Sydney, after I'd tried on a few wedding dresses, which weren't really me. I asked if they could make me 1 in white, & they said they could. It's still in it's box, somewhere in the spare room. (And I also still have my shoes that I'd had covered in white.) I'm worried that it may have pale yellow marks on it, but it's still in the tissue paper, which may have been eaten my silver fish by now! I'm to scared to look at it!
