I prefer fresh bread to toasted.
There is nothing nicer (well that is a slight exaggeration!) than freshly made bread, sliced thickly with thick butter on it.
I usually make my own bread and have problems cutting it thin anyway.
Home made bread has very little sugar in it, while store bought bread does have sugar.
So, definitely prefer fresh bread to toast, though eat eggs on toast always.
Freshly baked bread with Lurpak butter.. drooool
I have a bread maker that is in use most days. I really don't like the vinegar smell that comes with processed white bread. The amount of preservatives also bother me.
I usually prefer fresh UN-toasted bread, though every now and then I do crave a lovely lightly toasted slice of bread with lashings of butter as it melts into the soft interior!!!
Whether fresh or toasted, I only ever use BUTTER!!!
We don't eat a lot of bread now days. I love fresh bread the most, but we freeze the loaf to save waste, so generally eat bread toasted.
If I had a bread maker I don't think I could resist the fresh bread , especially after smelling it cooking, and would probably eat it before my husband even saw it...
I like fresh bread but bave found a lot of brands stick in my mouth so am choosey with only buying wholemeal now. However, when I bake my own, I don't have that problem. My grandsons have a ham and cheese toastie every day and never change the filling.
Fresh bread is yummy to eat straight away and with any topping of course not margarine tho! When the bread gets a few days old then toasting is also yummy. I slice a few pieces for the freezer to eat at the end of the week, it comes out quite fresh that way too
I love bread fresh but if it's continental it goes stale quick and I love to make garlic toasted bread. I know I smell for a couple of days but I don't care. It's my body and I'm not out to impress anyone.
When it's fresh I like it untoasted but once it isn't so fresh I prefer toasted. When I had a bread maker I just loved eating fresh bread, especially the crusts, yum, but I ate too much of it. That is why I don't have a bread maker now. Fresh bread with plenty of butter, I'm drooling at the thought.
I love toasted bread with lots of butter - but I always end up a little heavy handed with the butter, sort of embarrass myself occasionally (but the feeling doesn't last for long). Also love toast with loads of butter and blackcurrant jam. O
loads of butter and a couple of tinned or bottled anchovies crushed to spread on the toast.
But if I have a very fresh loaf of bread, then I love a couple of slices of good ham off the bone and a very ripe tomato sliced and a lot of black pepper on that bread and a hot cup of tea ..hevernly !
