When I was younger I used to prefer a motel as we were in and out all the time, and it was easier.
However now that there are such lovely hotels around, I would probably prefer hotels as I like luxury!
They offer more in the way of service and are usually far nicer rooms than the average motel which I would now consider is just for an overnight stay whilst on the move.
I would do a hotel stay now because I have a family.
Neither. I prefer camping with a fire.
There is a lot of cost difference, I have done both and prefer by far a Hotel.
Motels are really becoming a thing of the past I feel.
Sadly, a lot of motels are quite sleazy now :(
For me it's probably been Mobile home, Motel, then Hotel. I love the freedom of a mobile home and they are quite luxurious. If I am only going to one place I choose the best motel I can find near my target venue. If it's a weekend escape, I just love a hotel.
do you know which one it is in my picture?
Yes. RIP MLK. What a wicked thing.
No not MLK have another try.... :)
Martin Luther King Jr. was an American clergyman and civil rights leader who was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 4, 1968. King was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. that evening. Was somebody else killed there too? It's been a long time since school :(
I can say honestly MLK did not die at the 'Bates' Motel.
It's famous, but now I have you thinking.!! bahhhhaaaaa
I AM AN IDIOT!!!! I kept looking at Finy's picture, not yours . . . . . Hahahahahaha!!
Do you know what happened at my Motel?
Noooooooo . . . was it bad . . . . . ??

Janet Leigh didn't end up clean? Heehee.
I remember when I was growing up and my parents took me travelling. We would kangaroo hop from motel to motel, on our way to our destination. It was nice to have a bed, a shower and toilet, plus breakfast, after a long day of travelling. Nowadays, when travelling we prefer hotels. If we are going to travel, we like to stay in comfortable, luxurious surrounds. It is all part of the holiday experience, to stay somewhere nice, and be pampered a bit, whilst on holidays.
I am a hotel girl. I tried camping but alas my heart wasn't in it.. Too much of a city girl, I find it hard to relax without locks and keys.
I have slept in a tent once. On a sports oval. That was about it for me. I think a tent in the bush with creepy crawlies would send me to bedlam.
lol.. total agree Rice.. I'll leave the camping to the people who love bugs :)
I currently work in a motel, and after the things that I see go on there I would much rather stay in an upmarket hotel
When we holiday we either cruise, or stay with our daughter in Melbourne. If driving to Melbourne, we'll stay in a cabin in a caravan park, if we have to stay overnight somewhere.
I prefer a hotel. Have stayed in a motel once but that was more than 50 years ago
Hotels now - travelling with kids as I find myself doing more often, the facilities like heated spa and pool are high on my list of musts. It just doesn't feel like a holiday if I have to traipse around with kids looking for things to do.
Depends on what I'm doing and where I am. If interstate then a good hotel because we like to use public transport as often as we can. Same when overseas, but if travelling locally then it depends on the quality of motel compared to high class hotel.
I prefer a hotel but I will stay in a motel
We have stayed in motels in the past and I don't mind them, as long as they are clean obviously, but we also stay in caravan parks as well.
I'm not really fussed, as long as the place is clean and it affords our budget.
