Social media is currently naming and shaming some chain stores and praising others Are you swayed by these campaigns? Do you shop at particular stores based on their social conscious?
I try to buy ethically produced stuff when I can or shop at secondhand stores, but if the thing I need is only available in one place then I just buy the thing and don't worry about it. It's also a matter of what I can afford at the time. If you're really broke I think you get a pass on not buying expensive fair trade underpants or whatever.
I usually miss what's going on in social media, so don't get the chance to be swayed by it. I try to buy as ethically as I can, but sometimes I just get what I need because the shop is selling it for the right price.
Ditto. I do not get swayed by the media either. I shop where it resonates with me. It is good to go fair trade though, as no slave labour is definitely used.
I think a social conscience is important, but I try to do my own research into the ethical behaviour of stores, rather than take campaigns on face value.
