Both. I am in the process of throwing out what I an not using. Its an arduous task but it must be done. I realize that I q
I still need storage for the stuff I keeping
Arduous is definitely the word for it...it's been seven months...we still have so much to sort and chuck. To be fair, it's not my stuff.
I don't think you can ever have too much storage but I could definitely use a clean up in some of those cupboards
Both. My new house has a huge pantry and a walk in wardrobe . . . . nothing else. I have put shelving units in the garage and there is a garden shed. *phew*
We seem to have enough storage. As for our ' stuff ', we go through our stuff thoroughly every year, so it doesn't accumulate to the point that cupboards and wardrobes are choc a block with unused things.
Oh you are good. I wish I was that organised!
Oh Lluxi, my MIL keeps EVERYTHING. Admittedly, she has thrown out a lot...but there is still A LOT more to go. :-|
My dads the same. A real hoarder.
I need less stuff..
Simple as that. :)
Both! I was sitting in my lounge the other night thinking of all the things my girls will dispose of when I'm gone and that hurts. After years of collecting my minature shoes, handbags and hats, my complete 12 piece settings of Old Country Roses dinnerware and accessories, Rosenthal and French crystal glasses to name a few, they probably wouldn't know the value of these items. I have given some of my things away to other people but so much to go through.
Yes I am in the same boat. I know my daughter will get rid of at least 2/3s of what I'll leave behind. p.s. Rosenthal and Arzberg make up most of my treasures.
helga and från, just a thought. My husband wrote out something of an inventory of some of his things "just in case". That way, I know what is what and how much it's worth. If you do that, your kids will have an easier time finding a good home for your things when the time comes.
Thanks Vee. That's a good idea. I'm going to sort my jewellery out this year so they all get to choose what they want except for the jewellery they already know who will inheret what items I've shown them so will list that with my funeral paperwork.
When we are in our own space.
I need less stuff. I can never imagine becoming a minimalist because I love to have interesting items to look at and rearrange . Living in an old home without many built ins , I store my winter clothes in the shed in Summer and visa versa. I always keep some out of season clothes in case I travel. I emptied my summer clothes and lived with only my few Winter things for a couple of months and loved having less choice. Unfortunately when Winter arrived for real , I needed to get warmer items from storage, it has taught me the meaning of Less is More.i am surprised to say that I liked the feeling.

I did something similar. Separated the clothes I could wear while pregnant. So much easier to choose from when you can see what you've got. Only problem is that I can't bear to part with the clothes I have but don't think I'll ever be able to wear again - so pretty!
