When I was a child, nearly all our Christmas decorations were homemade. Getting ready for the start of Advent this year, I have realised that all of our decorations now have been purchased.

I have decided that as of this year, we will make LOTS of Christmas decorations - I much prefer homemade to purchased. My mum's favourite tree ornaments are still the ones I made at playgroup aged about three.... I'd love to start creating some family traditions of our own like that!
We make a xmas chain out of colourful paper and string it around the house every year. The kids love to see how long they can make it. I guess it's nearly that time again isn't it! it's a great thing to keep them busy when we steal off down the other end of the house to wrap presents.
Sneaky!
I have to say, I would never leave my boy alone with glue..... who knows what he would decide to glue rather than making the chain lol!
Yes I love to ! :)

Although I'm more into knitting things, like figurines etc., as Christmas decorations.
I'm not a knitter but I have been tempted to have a go at knitting a nativity scene - they look really cute! Or a lovely squidgy knitted Santa :)
Not since I was a child, where I used to make paper chains at christmas time to decorate the house
Ah, the good old paper chain :) Simple but effective!
We Celebrate Christmas, big time.

But we don't have a tree and all the other stuff around the house, stopped that years and years ago...No longer into any of that part.
I am creatively inept, so couldn't do this even if I tried.

We don't really get into Christmas so we don't even have a tree this year let alone decorations! I'm not a very creative person - despite having all these plans to do "crafty" things with my daughter I just don't have the motivation to do them. Maybe next year, when she is a little older, we will start some sort of tradition like this as it sounds really nice.
There are some really simple but very effective decorations you can make - if I get a chance I will be publishing some ideas on MyKidCraft soon :) I promise you that anyone can make them!
My family members don't care much about the fluff of the Christmas season. So we neither purchase nor make Christmas decorations.
My Mother used to collect pine cones & bullrushes.....oops! that should read 'My Mother got ME to collect pine cones & bullrushes', which she would paint either gold or silver, sprinkle on same coloured 'glitter', & make into centrepieces' for Xmas table.

They always looked beautiful, so Mum therefore considered her time learning in a 'Floral Craft' group worthwhile!
