Do you like tinned oysters?

I recently used a tin of John West oysters in cooking and they were quite nice.
Though not really tasting like oysters, or rather the real thing, i still enjoyed them.

I then bought some more and had them on crackers and really like them.

I also love fresh oysters, but they are just SO expensive at the moment, it is ridiculous.

I must be blind . . . I only ever see smoked oysters. Maybe I shop at the wrong places. haha

When I look at this photo all I think of is food poisoning for some reason. . . . those cans look as old as me. Oh dear. No, not a fan.

I used too, like YEARS ago, but only for a dip with sour cream, & I hadn't even known oysters came in big tins like in the above photo! I'd only bought the little oblong tins of oysters.

Yes, they were only smoked oysters!

These tins look like American Oysters to me. I have never seen "fresh" oysters in tins in Australia.

I remember 1 dozen oysters in long thin bottles years ago in Sydney, very, very good. They might still sell them that way in Sydney, maybe at the Fish Market in Pyrmont.

Oh my goodness, fran, you have triggered a memory from my childhood . . . seeing those long thin bottles of oysters at the seaside in England :-))))))))))
