The inglenook fireplace, a partially enclosed and usually quite large hearth area, was used in times gone past as the cooking area as well as a warm and costy place to sit. They date back centuries.

Yes I love them too. They might be OK say in Tasmania in the winter but I have to admit, Humungus Airconditionus is my true love. If I didn't have it, I would make it through to the season where I could enjoy an Inglenook.

I like these types of fire places. They have a warm homey feel.

I love the look of inglenook fireplaces. We see many of them of the British show 'Escape to the Country'. We don;t have too much need of a fireplace here in Aus though and I must confess I'd rather push a button for my heating than chop wood.

Yes and yes. The cottage we had all my childhood holidays in had a proper inglenook fireplace and we would sit in it and make toast on the fire whilst the kettle boiled over it. Magical memories.
